A Raptor should be as enjoyable at the end of a demanding drive as it is at the beginning. The Process West Stage 1 intercooler adds charge-air cooling capacity in the original location, giving your 2022+ 3.0 V6 EcoBoost petrol a stronger foundation for sustained use and future tuning.
Its appeal is the straightforward route into better cooling: a substantial bar-and-plate core, the factory pipe connections and a choice of raw aluminium or black finish. You can upgrade the intercooler now without buying a complete set of hard pipes.

Turbochargers heat the air they compress. An intercooler removes some of that heat before the air reaches the engine; under sustained load, that cooling matters to the performance the calibration can deliver. Stage 1 uses a 480 × 180 × 125 mm core to make more of the factory intercooler space.
We would choose this route for a road and touring Raptor where keeping the original mounting position and pipes matters. The larger Stage 2 installation is a separate choice with a different core layout and more involved fitting.

The intercooler works with the original pipes. Our separately listed Stage 1/stock hard-pipe kit replaces the plastic pipework with aluminium if you want to develop the installation further. Neither that piping kit nor fitting labour is included here.
Stage 1 keeps the original intercooler position and accepts the factory pipes. Installation removes the shutter assembly and relocates its motor onto the supplied bracket. The PWRRIC01 guide also requires drilling and trimming, including specified plastic sections, cover-plate clearance and duct tabs, with a mounting tab bent for core clearance.
Professional fitting should include the front-end access, mounting work, hose connections and final clearance and leak checks. If keeping the factory shutter arrangement and avoiding cutting are priorities, compare the Turbosmart intercooler.
After muddy or dusty trips, inspect the cooling face and clear debris carefully without damaging the fins. Give the hose connections and mounts attention during routine servicing, especially after other front-end work.
A larger intercooler supports the engine; it does not replace a radiator or transmission cooler. Choose the next cooling component around the temperatures and use of your own truck.
