Stage 3 is where the injector stops being the limit. Nostrum pairs a direct injector 96% larger than the factory 3.0 EcoBoost unit with the Big Bore HPFP kit flowing 47% more than the stock pumps, and the interesting part is what that lets the calibrator do: commanded rail pressure can drop from the factory 24 MPa to around 20 MPa and the engine still gets the fuel it needs. Lower commanded pressure means less asked of the cam lobe and the pump for the same fuel mass. This is the last rung before the pump itself changes.
A high-pressure DI system trades pressure against hole size. Chase fuel mass with pressure alone and the cam lobe, the pump follower and the pump all take the load. Fit an injector nearly twice standard size and the same fuel mass arrives at 20 MPa where the factory system runs 24 MPa. That is a mechanical argument, not a power claim.
Both packages use the same Stage 3 injector. The difference is entirely the pump: Stage 3 keeps the 47% Big Bore, while the Stage X bundle fits the 1200-250 Goliath at 60% over stock and extends the application through 2024. If the injector is your current restriction, Stage 3 solves it. Parts are also sold alone as the Stage 3 injector set and the Explorer HPFP kit.

Pressure is generated mechanically by the cam and the pump, so a much larger injector delivering the same fuel mass at a lower commanded pressure means the drive side works less hard.
They are far larger than standard, so the calibration matters more than at Stage 1. Nostrum provides injector characterisation data to the tuner.
