The S55 is a twin high pressure fuel pump engine, so upgrading its fuel supply means replacing both pumps, and that is exactly what this kit does. Nostrum's BMW S55 3.0L Twin Standard Bore Plus High Pressure Fuel Pump Kit ships two fully welded stainless pumps, both hard lines, the low-pressure plumbing, the T-split with integrated fuel pressure sensor and the intake manifold spacer and extended studs needed to make it all sit properly. Together the pair moves 36% more fuel than the factory pumps at up to 240 bar. Nostrum calls it a bolt-on with no permanent modifications, so the fuel system can be returned to standard later. A calibration is required.
The N55 gets away with a single cam-driven pump. The S55, with two turbos and a much higher fuel demand, uses a pair, and both limit the car equally. Replacing one and leaving the other standard just moves the restriction rather than removing it, which is why this kit is supplied as a matched pair with two vacuum-brazed high-pressure tube assemblies and their own anti-vibration clamps. The single-pump N55 kit is a different job entirely, and the two are not interchangeable.
Confirm your chassis code against the table below, then plan the install: the intake manifold has to come off, because the spacer, gaskets and extended studs in the kit go underneath it. A calibration on EcuTek, Bootmod3 or MHD is required. If you want the ECU to track ethanol content properly, add the F-Series flex fuel sensor kit. Buying injectors at the same time is usually cheaper as the S55 Stage 2 bundle.
