More confident braking in your GX470

Touring equipment, a trailer and larger tyres can ask a lot more of your GX470's brakes. Powerbrake X-Line Stage 1 upgrades the front calipers, discs, pads and hoses together, giving you a more positive pedal and better resistance to heat-related fade. It is an upgrade you can appreciate every time you slow down for a bend or control your speed on a loaded descent.

SKU: X6M-TOY01F-lexus-8980A040-R-PB01 (Red / PB01). See every available combination below.

Feel the difference through the pedal

Rigid billet aluminium calipers resist flex, and the braided hoses resist expansion under pressure. Together, they help make the pedal feel more direct, so it is easier to judge how much braking you are asking for and release it smoothly. Stainless steel pistons slow heat transfer from the pads towards the seals and brake fluid.

The calipers also use protected bleed screws, internal fluid crossovers and stainless hardware. Those are useful details when your brakes live with mud, grit and stone impacts, and when you want the upgrade to remain serviceable over years of use.

Cooling for repeated braking

The X6M option uses 350 x 34 mm one-piece discs with 48 curved, directional cooling vanes per disc. The vanes draw air through the discs to help carry away heat as repeated stops add to it.

The high-carbon cast-iron discs use a slotted face that helps clear water, sand and mud while keeping braking smooth. Each disc is checked for run-out and thickness variation during manufacture, rather than relying on a sample from the batch.

Choose your pads and caliper finish

PB01 is the standard high-performance compound: a balanced choice for 4x4 and sport-truck use, with good fade resistance and smooth, quiet operation for a performance pad. The friction surfaces are factory-scorched to shorten bedding-in, although you still need to follow the supplied bedding procedure.

Choose PB05 for a further step up in performance, fade resistance and wear life over PB01, on vehicles up to 3,500 kg GVM. GVM is the maximum permitted total vehicle mass, rather than the weight you happen to be carrying today. The selected compound is supplied with your kit; you choose the one that suits how you use the vehicle.

Red uses a type-2 anodise for a brighter finish behind the wheels. Grey uses the more durable type-3 hard anodise for an understated appearance and tougher surface. The colour changes the finish, while both choices retain the same caliper design.

Use the fitment table to match your vehicle, market and model year, including any original caliper, wheel or booster details listed for the application.

What comes with the kit

  • A pair of X-Line six-piston billet front calipers
  • Front slotted discs in the selected kit specification
  • Your selected pad compound, pre-loaded with anti-squeal shims
  • Billet caliper mounting brackets with stainless thread inserts
  • Stainless steel braided front hoses with PTFE lining and protective outer covering
  • Kit mounting hardware, fitting instructions and bedding-in instructions

Wheel clearance and installation

Have the exact kit checked against your wheels before ordering, including any spare you may use on the front. Wheel diameter alone cannot confirm clearance: the spokes, barrel shape, offset and balance weights all matter.

Professional fitting, thorough bleeding and correct bedding-in are part of getting the pedal feel you bought the kit for. Use glycol-based DOT 4 or higher brake fluid as required by the fitting instructions, and arrange the follow-up service bleed. Retained air can affect the feel of newly fitted calipers, even after the initial bleed.

Read the X-Line fitting, bedding-in and service guide.

Looking after your new brakes

Maximum Temperature Recording markings on the discs and calipers leave a permanent record of the highest temperatures reached. That gives your workshop useful information when choosing future pad compounds and fluid or checking whether your use is creating more heat than expected. It is a record to inspect after driving, rather than a live temperature display.

Inspect pad thickness, disc condition and hose routing during normal servicing. Replacement pads need to match the Powerbrake caliper profile, so keep your kit reference and assembly guide with the vehicle. The upgrade improves the brake hardware; the permitted towing, payload and axle limits still come from your vehicle.

Frequently asked questions

Why buy a complete kit rather than just different pads?

You are changing the calipers, disc capacity and hose construction together. That makes sense when you want a more positive pedal and improved heat management, especially as equipment, towing or heavier wheel-and-tyre combinations add to the braking demand.

Is Stage 1 a good choice for a road-driven vehicle?

Yes. Stage 1 is our recommendation for road and normal off-road use. You get the six-piston billet calipers, one-piece discs, pads and braided hoses in a matched front conversion.

Which pad compound should I choose?

PB01 is the balanced standard performance compound. PB05 adds performance, fade resistance and wear life over PB01 for vehicles up to 3,500 kg GVM; choose it where those benefits suit your driving and the vehicle's permitted mass.

Are the pads, hoses and brackets included?

Yes. The front calipers, discs, your selected pads, braided hoses, mounting brackets and kit hardware are supplied together. Plan separately for professional fitting and the brake fluid required during installation.

Will it fit behind my wheels?

The exact kit must clear the spokes, barrel and balance weights on your actual wheels. Check the matching template or arrange an exact kit-clearance check before ordering, including the spare if it may be used on the front.

Will it cure a spongy or sinking pedal?

The X-Line hardware is designed to improve pedal feel and modulation. A newly deteriorating pedal, fluid leak or sinking pedal needs diagnosis and repair first; once the system is healthy, the kit is an upgrade to how the brakes perform.

What warranty comes with the kit?

The Powerbrake manufacturer warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials for 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first. Normal wear, incorrect fitting, misuse, motorsport and track-day use are excluded. Cover is also void if a disc exceeds 630 degrees C or a caliper exceeds 200 degrees C, recorded by the MTR markings. Check the linked fitting guide for the full terms.
