Summary

This is a stainless steel pulsation damper for the low pressure side of a fuel system, with AN06 male fittings at both ends so it plumbs inline into an AN-fed feed line. Its job is to take the sharp edges off pressure ripple - the pulsing that a lift pump generates and that a cam-driven high pressure pump adds to every time it draws a charge - so the feed arriving at the high pressure pump is steadier than the one leaving the tank. On a modified system that ripple shows up as unsettled pressure readings and noise in the lines rather than as an obvious fault, which is why it is easier to design out than to chase later.

Best For

  • Custom fuel systems already plumbed in AN06, where the damper drops into the existing line run
  • Builds pairing an uprated lift pump with a cam-driven high pressure pump, where feed-side pulsing is at its worst
  • Fuel systems showing restless low side pressure readings that the regulator alone is not settling
  • Engine bays where line noise and fuel system harshness are worth engineering out at build stage

What Pressure Ripple Does On The Low Side

A lift pump does not deliver a smooth column of fuel; it delivers a rapid series of pulses, and a cam-driven high pressure pump pulls against that supply in bursts of its own. The two interact along the feed line and the result is oscillation - pressure that swings around the value the regulator is holding. A damper gives that energy somewhere to go, which makes the pressure the high pressure pump sees closer to the pressure you specified, and takes some of the hammer out of the lines and fittings around it.

Plumbing It Into The Low Side

Both ends are AN06, so on an AN-plumbed system it goes inline in the feed between the lift pump and the high pressure pump with two hose ends and no adapters. Stainless construction suits the fuels a modified system is likely to see, including high ethanol blends. This is a low pressure side component: it belongs in the feed line, not on the high pressure rail. It pairs naturally with a pump core such as the Stanadyne 1150-250, which already takes its feed on an AN06 male inlet.

Key Specs

  • Manufacturer: Nostrum High Performance
  • Product Type: low pressure side fuel pulsation damper
  • SKU: L061-1551
  • Fittings: AN06 in, AN06 out
  • Material: stainless steel
  • System side: low pressure feed side only
  • Included: damper only - hose ends, lines and mounting hardware are separate
  • Fitment type: chosen by fitting size, system side and line routing rather than by vehicle

Fitment And Setup Checks

  • Confirm your feed line is AN06, or plan adapters into the run before ordering.
  • Fit it on the low pressure side between lift pump and high pressure pump; it is not a high pressure rail component.
  • Plan a mounting point and line routing that keeps the damper supported rather than hanging on the hose ends.
  • Hose ends, line and clamps are not included - add them to the order alongside it.
  • If you are unsure whether pulsing is your issue, log low side fuel pressure first and talk to Hoonies about what you see.

Questions before you order

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit this on the high pressure rail?

No. It is designed for the low pressure feed side, between the lift pump and the high pressure pump. Rail-side pressure control is a different job with different hardware.

Do I need one?

Not every system does. It earns its place where an uprated lift pump feeds a cam-driven high pressure pump and low side pressure is visibly restless in the logs. Browse the wider fuel system range if you are still mapping out the feed side of a build.
