If you run ethanol in a 2.3 EcoBoost Ranger, the blend in the tank is never quite the number on the pump. It shifts with season, supplier and whatever was left in the tank before, and a calibration that assumes a fixed blend is guessing. The Nostrum ESSIM kit ends the guesswork: the Ethanol Sensor Signal Interface Module reads ethanol content and fuel temperature at the engine in real time and turns that into 0-5V analog, PWM and CAN signals that can all be configured individually and used at once. This is the vehicle-specific version, so it comes with a genuine Continental ethanol sensor on a stainless bracket made for the truck, the low pressure fuel lines to and from the sensor, pre-terminated harness adapters and instructions written for this application.
Ethanol content and fuel temperature are the core readings, taken at the engine rather than in the tank, so the value reflects what is actually being burned. Fuel pressure monitoring is possible as well, with a compatible pressure sensor added separately. The three output types run simultaneously, which means a standalone gauge can take the analog signal while the tuning suite takes CAN. For quick checks there is Bluetooth and the Nostrum iOS app, which is the easiest way to see the blend before you fill up or after a top-up with petrol.
