Summary
Stage 3 is the top of Nostrum's Focus RS fuel ladder and it is unapologetically for built cars. It pairs the Race direct injectors, 1950 cc/min and 45 percent more than the standard 2.3 EcoBoost injector, with the Big Bore 1150-250 pump supplying 63 percent more than the factory unit. The reason to come here rather than Stage 2 is simple: on a built engine with a large turbo the injector runs out of time at high rpm, and the Race set is the only one in the range with enough flow to stay ahead of it. It all still runs through the factory direct injection system under the standard ECU.
Best For
Built RS engines on a large turbo where Stage 2 injectors are the ceiling.
Drag, time attack and dyno cars where high-rpm fuelling decides the run.
Owners buying the fuel system once for a car they will keep developing.
High ethanol builds needing much more mass flow per cycle.
Stage 2 Or Stage 3 For An RS
The honest answer is that most road RS builds want Stage 2. Its injectors are smaller but carry a 240 bar working pressure, which keeps drivability easy and gives the tuner more pressure to play with. Stage 3 goes the other way: far more flow, but the Race injector's pressure ceiling is 200 bar, so the extra fuel comes from nozzle size rather than pressure. On a standard-turbo car that trade makes no sense. On a built engine that has already outgrown Stage 2, it is the only sensible move.
Why The Race Injector Caps At 200 Bar
A bigger nozzle with a lower pressure ceiling is a deliberate choice, not a shortcut. Nostrum develops the Race injector's plume for atomisation quality at that flow, because a large injector spraying badly brings soot, knock, bore wash and oil dilution with it. Pairing it with the Big Bore pump matters for the same reason: the rail has to stay fed at the volume these injectors pull.

Fitment And Setup Checks
Nostrum covers the 2016 onwards Ford Focus RS 2.3 EcoBoost here, naming Tunewerks, JEM Sport and PD Tuning as tuners. A tune is required and matters more here than lower down the range, because an injector this large needs the calibration built around it to idle and drive properly. Big Bore kits are made to order, so talk to us before booking the car in. If you are unsure, use a professional fitter.

Questions before you order
Frequently asked questions
Is Stage 3 too much for a road-driven RS?
It can be. The Race injector is sized for built engines and big turbos, and on a standard-turbo car you would be giving up pressure headroom for flow you cannot use. Stage 2 is the better road setup.
Can I buy the Race injectors on their own?
Yes, the Race direct injectors are sold separately if your RS already runs a Big Bore pump.
Does anything else in the fuel system need upgrading?
The package covers the direct injection side. Low pressure supply, in-tank hardware and the calibration are separate, so plan those with your tuner before the car goes on the ramp.
