Stage 2 is the ethanol rung. It keeps the same 47% Big Bore high pressure fuel pump used at Stage 1 and moves the six direct injectors up to Stage 2 at 24% over stock, or 15.7 g/s at 100 bar, so a 3.0 EcoBoost Explorer ST, Explorer Platinum or Lincoln Aviator has injector left to run E85 properly instead of sitting at the top of its duty cycle. The number worth reading is the split: Nostrum rates this fuel system to 850 WHP on gasoline and 750 WHP on E85, against 875 and 650 at Stage 1. Gasoline capacity barely moves, ethanol capacity climbs 100 WHP.
Ethanol carries less energy per unit mass than gasoline, so the same power on E85 needs far more fuel through the same six holes. That is an injector problem before it is a pump problem, which is why Stage 2 leaves the Big Bore alone. The 24% step buys back the duty cycle ethanol eats, and the OEM-equivalent spray pattern keeps combustion quality close to standard.
A variable blend means the calibration needs to know what is in the tank. The Explorer ST ESSIM kit reads ethanol content and fuel temperature at the engine, and is a separate purchase. If the build heads further, the Stage 3 bundle keeps this pump and moves to a 96% injector. The injectors alone are the Stage 2 injector set.

Look at the fuel. Stage 1 rates higher on gasoline and lower on E85; Stage 2 gives up a little gasoline capacity and gains a lot on ethanol.
