The FL5 Civic Type R is the benchmark hot hatch, and its intake is where MST Performance starts. This cold air intake system pairs aluminium pipework with a 152mm large-diameter dry high-flow filter inside a powder-coated heat shield, isolating intake air from engine-bay heat while giving the K20C1 a far more vocal induction voice. It fits as a direct kit with a high-flow washable filter — a first modification that suits both road cars and track-day builds.
Sustained hard laps cook an engine bay, and a filter breathing hot air is the classic weak point of cheap induction kits. MST's FL5 system encloses its 152mm filter behind a powder-coated shield to keep intake temperatures in check when the car is worked hard. This intake is available in four finish versions in our range — this page is the standard version, with the second finish here and the third here.

No — this system is engineered for the FL5 generation from 2022 on. The FK8 uses a different intake layout entirely.
A larger-diameter element gives more filter surface for the engine to draw through, which is why MST specifies the 152mm dry filter across this FL5 range — and it is washable rather than disposable.
They are the same engineered system in different pipe finishes. Pick the look you prefer from the photos on each page; fit and contents are otherwise alike.
