A substantial steering upgrade that clears your Rubicon wheels
You can give your JK a more substantial steering system and keep the AEV or factory Rubicon wheels you like. The Apex KIT140NF uses 2 in polished 7075-T6 aluminium tie rod and drag link rods with forged ends and ProLock locking hardware. This is the no-flip kit for stock Dana 30/44 axles, with clearance for the supported 17 in wheels without spacers.
SKU: KIT140NF
Two-inch rods with a polished finish
The aluminium rods form the adjusting sleeves as well as the main connecting links. They give the front axle a substantial, clean machined-metal appearance and use 7075-T6 aluminium with flex and recovery characteristics useful when a steering bar meets an obstacle. CNC-machined SAE 1045 housings and induction-treated SAE 4140 studs complete the heavy-duty joints.
Locking and articulation work together
ProLock keyway washers and set-screw jam nuts resist unwanted adjustment changes. The built-in anti-flop bearings in the tie rod ends and right-hand drag link end control fore-and-aft movement while allowing steering articulation. They keep that control within the bearing design, while the rubber boots protect the joint.
Wheels, axle and lift height
The kit clears the supported 17 in AEV and factory Rubicon wheels without spacers. It fits the stock Dana 30/44 axle arrangement and retains under-knuckle steering. The no-flip selection is normally suggested for lifts of 3.5 in or less. A steering stabiliser bracket is separate and must match your damper.
Fitting and maintenance
Professional fitting and alignment lets you get the benefit of the stronger linkage with the steering wheel and toe set correctly. Keep the drag-link minimum-engagement mark covered and check clearance through steering and suspension movement. Recheck the jam nuts after 500 miles, then every 5,000 miles or at oil changes. Use the specified locking-washer arrangement rather than stacking the alternative washers. The fitting guide includes the final locking-tab procedure after alignment.
A useful time to check the ball joints
On the same 2007-2018 Wrangler JK application, our KIT102 four-piece ball joint kit replaces both upper and lower front joints. It is a separate purchase for joints that also need attention, rather than an automatic requirement for fitting this steering kit.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep AEV or factory Rubicon wheels?
Yes. The supported 17 in AEV and factory Rubicon wheels clear this kit without wheel spacers.
What makes it different from KIT155NF?
KIT140NF uses 2 in 7075-T6 rods and ProLock locking hardware. KIT155NF uses 1.5 in rods and Ninja locking washers, and needs 1.5 in spacers with AEV or stock Rubicon wheels.
Is this an over-knuckle flip kit?
No. KIT140NF retains standard under-knuckle steering and is normally suggested for lifts of 3.5 in or less.
Is a steering stabiliser bracket supplied?
No. The bracket is separate and needs to suit your steering damper.
Do I still need an alignment?
Yes. Professional alignment is recommended after fitting, followed by the locking procedure in the instructions.
What are the ongoing checks?
Check jam nuts at 500 miles and then every 5,000 miles or at oil changes. Inspect boots, grease fittings and thread engagement as part of normal servicing.
