The Nostrum Volkswagen Mk6 Golf GTI EA888 CCTA/CBFA Big Bore High Pressure Fuel Pump Kit is the fuel pump for a Mk6 GTI that has already outgrown a bolt-on map. Once a hybrid or upgraded turbo goes on and the car is living on ethanol, the standard cam-driven pump simply cannot keep the rail up, and every extra pound of boost costs the calibrator timing. The Big Bore flows 63% more fuel than the factory pump and carries a 240 bar rating, which is the highest of the EA888 pumps Nostrum builds for this engine. It is an all-welded stainless steel assembly and it ships as a full kit: pump, stainless high pressure tubes with OEM fittings, the electrical connector adapter harness, fitting hardware and an installation guide, so the fuel side of the job is covered in one box.
Most CCTA and CBFA cars are well served by the Standard Bore kit at 36% flow and 180 bar. The Big Bore is a different proposition: bigger displacement, a higher pressure ceiling, a Mk6 GTI-specific application. On a standard turbo the Standard Bore is usually the smarter spend; once the turbo has changed, this is the pump that stops fuel being the next job.
A pump this size is rarely the only change. Injectors are the usual partner, and Nostrum sells the pair together as the Stage 3 fuel bundle with Modular K-DI injectors if you would rather buy the matched package than assemble it yourself.
This kit is built around the Mk6 GTI with the CBFA or CCTA engine code, so read the code off the block rather than going by model year. A custom tune is required, and the calibrator will want to know the pump, injectors and fuel you are running. On an imported or already-modified GTI, send Hoonies the details first.

Usually, yes. On a standard turbo the Standard Bore already gives more flow than the engine can use. The Big Bore earns its place once the turbo has changed or the car is on full ethanol.
