The APEX Design USA TSR Skid Plate protects the Through Shaft Ram steering ram when the terrain starts hitting back. The TSR is APEX's hydraulic assist steering system for the Jeep JL and JT, and its ram sits low in the steering path - exactly where rocks, ruts and trail debris find low-hanging hardware first. This plate shields the ram so scrapes and strikes land on the plate first, not on the component your steering depends on. It is compatible with both current Through Shaft Ram kits and is the natural way to finish a TSR install before hard off-road use.
A hydraulic assist ram is one of the most consequential parts on the front of the vehicle: if it takes a hard hit mid-trail, steering control is what suffers, and the trip usually ends early. Compared with running the ram unguarded, a dedicated plate means ground contact costs you plate scars rather than damaged steering hardware. It is the same logic as any underbody protection - let the plate take the abuse before the expensive part does - applied to the exact component the TSR system adds.
This plate is made for the APEX Through Shaft Ram and fits both current kits. Before ordering, confirm which kit is on your vehicle, and check your steering layout and clearances so the plate can sit where it should.
