The Nostrum BMW N55 1170-250 Gauntlet HPFP Kit is the part you fit when the factory high pressure fuel pump has become the thing holding your map back. Nostrum rates it at 70% more flow than the stock N55 pump, and 4% more than their earlier Big Bore, using a cast stainless-steel Gauntlet pump body developed for the BMW 3.0L N55. The install is plug and play with zero hardware modification and fully reversible when the car moves on, though a calibration is still needed to use the extra volume. If your N55 is on an aggressive map, drinking ethanol blends or about to see a bigger turbo, this is what takes fuel supply off the list of limits.
The N55 runs a single cam-driven pump feeding the direct injection rail, sized for the factory power level. Push boost or switch to ethanol and it reaches its volume limit before the injectors do, so commanded rail pressure sags exactly when the engine is asking for the most fuel. Backing the tune off is one answer; fitting a bigger pump is the one that lets the rest of the hardware keep working. The Gauntlet body is Nostrum's newer cast stainless design and sits above the Big Bore in their N55 range.
Match your chassis code and year to the table below, and remember the pump is only half the job: a calibration from EcuTek, MHD or Bootmod3 has to command the extra volume. Injectors are a separate purchase, so many N55 cars pair this pump with the Stage 2 DI injectors, or buy both as the N55 Stage 2 Gauntlet bundle. Running varying ethanol content also calls for a flex fuel sensor.
