A competition seat needs to fit the driver as well as the car. The RECARO Pro Racer SP-A XL gives a larger driver more width and backrest height, with pronounced thigh and torso support and integrated head protection. Its carbon-aramid shell creates a dedicated driving position while leaving your arms room to work the wheel. Choose it for close support in the right size, without squeezing into the standard shell.

The carbon-aramid construction weighs approximately 7.5 kg without mounting hardware. Around you, shock-absorbing foam, grip at the shoulders and flame-retardant upholstery complete the competition specification. This is the SP-A composite model; the SP-G uses glass fibre. The appeal is a lightweight shell with the pronounced support and head protection you want when driving hard, rather than a seat chosen on weight alone.
The XL version is wider and taller than the standard SP-A. Choose XL for the extra room, rather than expecting the standard seat to become comfortable through softer padding. Both need to be assessed with the clothing, helmet and head-and-neck restraint you will use.
The seat supports 4-, 5- and 6-point harnesses and is developed for head-and-neck restraint use. Supplied as one seat. The vehicle-specific baseframe and any required sidemounts are additional. We can match these to your car and seating position; the installation must also account for the original belts, airbags and occupancy equipment. Use a competent seat installer for the mechanical and electrical work. Head-protector clearance, harness routing and the specified sidemount are part of the installation.
FIA 8855-1999 homologation is for a five-year approval period, subject to the date label and the event rules. Inspect the shell, padding and mounts regularly. A seat exposed to crash loads must not simply be put back into service.
Try the seating position with your driving clothing, helmet and head-and-neck restraint. You need room to work the controls with secure support around your hips, torso and shoulders. Set the seat angle and harness routing together; the fit matters more than choosing a lighter shell in the wrong size.
