The RECARO Pole Position ABE changes how you sit in the car, with a fixed shell and pronounced support around your body. Its clean shape brings a purposeful look to the cabin, and the paddable lumbar support lets you refine the fit. Choose the classic glass-fibre shell or the lighter carbon-aramid version, depending on how much the material, weight and visible finish matter to your build.

The carbon-aramid shell brings exposed carbon craftsmanship and a useful weight reduction: approximately 4.5 kg per seat compared with 7 kg for GFRP, excluding sidemount and baseframe in both cases. That saves around 2.5 kg per seat before the mounting hardware. If you value the look and lighter construction, carbon is the step up. If the fixed-shell support is your priority, the standard GFRP version delivers that experience at a lower entry price. Both have a fixed backrest.
The standard shell offers black Perlon Velour, Nardo/Artista, two Ambla/Dinamica combinations or black leather. Carbon is offered with black Perlon Velour or black leather. An integrated headrest, 3-/4-point belt accommodation and paddable lumbar support are part of the seat design.
The ABE/component certification covers specified vehicles with the correct RECARO baseframe, sidemount and 3-point-belt arrangement. It is not universal approval for any car or any harness. This is the Pole Position ABE, not the separate FIA competition model. ABE is German general type approval; it is not a claim that every UK installation is automatically approved.
Supplied as one seat. The vehicle-specific baseframe and any required sidemounts are additional. We can match these to your car and seating position; the installation must also account for the original belts, airbags and occupancy equipment. Use a competent seat installer for the mechanical and electrical work. The seat does not recline, so installed height, angle and belt routing need to be right. Clean the shell with mild soapy water rather than solvents, and use the appropriate upholstery cleaner for the chosen trim.
The side support makes the driving position more defined, which is the attraction when you enjoy a winding road. It also means stepping over a bolster when you get in and out. Set the installed height and angle carefully, because the back does not recline. We would choose a reclining seat instead if easy access and changing your backrest position are the priorities.
