The Nostrum ESSIM is an Ethanol Sensor Signal Interface Module: it reads ethanol content and fuel temperature in real time on a petrol engine and turns that into signals your ECU or dash can use. This is the universal kit - the module, a universal output harness and a universal power harness with bare unterminated ends - for a build with no ready-made vehicle kit behind it. If you are blending fuel and want the calibration to know what is actually in the tank rather than guessing from the last fill, this is the part that closes the loop.
ESSIM gives you 0-5V analog, PWM and CAN outputs, configured individually and usable simultaneously, so a standalone ECU can take the CAN message while a logger takes the analog signal from the same module. Ethanol content and fuel temperature are the core readings, and fuel pressure can be added with a compatible pressure sensor. The iOS and Android app handles live monitoring, and it needs a phone rather than a tablet or a Windows machine.
The universal power harness ships with bare, unterminated ends. That is deliberate - it is what lets the kit go into any build - but it means you are making off switched power and ground yourself and routing the loom to suit the car. The Continental SE1004 ethanol sensor is a separate purchase, along with the fuel line adapters to plumb it in. If Nostrum builds a dedicated kit for your car, such as the 3.0L EcoBoost Explorer ST ESSIM kit, that route arrives pre-terminated and saves the wiring work.

If Nostrum makes a kit for your car, take it - it arrives pre-terminated with vehicle-specific lines and adapters. The universal kit is for cars with no dedicated version, or builds already being wired from scratch. Compare it against the fuel sensor range.
