It closes the open top of the system's heat shield with a transparent lid - the filter stays on show, the enclosure gets finished, and the install looks deliberate rather than half-done. This cover is made for the MST cold air intake system for the B48 BMW 1 Series F20/F21 and related models. If that system is on your car with its heat shield open-topped, this is the missing piece.
