BMW's single-turbo N55 straight six is one of the great modern engines, yet it spends its life breathing through a restrictive standard air box. This MST Performance cold air intake system swaps that box for precision-engineered aluminium pipework designed to cut intake restriction and turbulence, so the six pulls cleaner and sounds far more like the engine you paid for. One part number covers the M135i-era 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series and 4 Series from 2012-2016 plus the M2 F87, and every fitting for a direct OEM-replacement install is in the box.
A turbocharged engine is only as responsive as the air path feeding it. MST design their intakes to increase air speed into the engine while minimising turbulence and flow restriction, and the aluminium construction holds its shape where flexible standard plumbing cannot. Fitted to a standard or already-tuned car, the change you notice daily is the induction note - the N55 hardens up audibly under load instead of staying muted behind the factory box.
This kit is engine-specific: it suits the 3.0T N55 in the F-chassis cars in the table below, with the M2 F87 covered for 2016-2017. Check your model code and build year against the table, and confirm the part number matches your exact car before ordering. If you drive a 2016-on 3.0T with the newer B58 engine, the correct kit is the MST B58 cold air intake instead.
