Give your Evo X a brake upgrade worthy of the car

An Evo X makes a compelling case for investing in the whole driving experience. The EBC Apollo BBK052 road kit combines six-piston front calipers and 355 x 32 mm floating front discs with matching Bluestuff pads at both axles. Rear swept-and-grooved solid discs and braided lines all round make this a particularly comprehensive upgrade for the listed applications.

Kit reference: BBK052. Exact SKUs for every available configuration are listed below.

A balanced road kit with more in the box

The new front hardware is only part of the value. Matching rear pads work with the original rear calipers, and the rear discs carry a swept-and-grooved pattern to complement the front assembly. Braided lines serve both axles. Up front, the reinforced calipers and floating discs address pedal response and repeated heat, so the package has substance to match its appearance.

The road-kit front discs use drive bobbins machined from single pieces of stainless steel and 48 directional internal curved vanes for cooling. Swept Groove slots help clear braking dust and gases from the contact surface, while the thermic black finish provides corrosion resistance. Those details give the discs a practical role in managing heat and keeping the floating assembly working freely.

Calipers made for the way you use your car

The road calipers are designed, manufactured and assembled in the UK from heat-treated, low-pressure cast aluminium. Their two-piece bodies use grade 12.9 bridge bolts, with hard-anodised aluminium pistons, stainless-steel bleed nipples and wear plates. The material and construction put substance behind the appearance of the upgrade.

External dust boots keep road dirt and debris away from the pistons, with high-temperature EPDM fluid seals behind them. A hard-anodised body gives corrosion protection beneath the high-temperature colour coating, while the single pad-retention bolt allows quick pad changes when servicing is due.

Choose your kit

The four painted road configurations share the 355 x 32 mm six-piston front specification and the road-kit components described here. Race competition uses hard-anodised competition calipers and RP-X race pads; its confirmed front hardware is set out separately below.

Black, Blue, Red and Yellow are the painted road-caliper choices, with external dust boots and aluminium pistons. Choose the finish you want to see behind your wheels without changing the kit specification for that version.

Race competition is a different hardware and pad specification: hard-anodised calipers, stainless-steel castellated pistons and RP-X race pads. It is intended for dedicated track and race use, rather than chosen as another paint colour.

Road-kit front pads: Version 1: Bluestuff.

Bluestuff combines cold bite for road use with capability for lighter track work. Dedicated racing asks something different of a pad; use the competition specification where that is the car's purpose.

What is included

With the painted road configurations you receive:

  • Two Apollo front calipers in the selected road colour
  • Two fully floating two-piece front discs to the selected kit specification
  • Front brake pads (Version 1: Bluestuff)
  • Braided brake lines for both axles on the road kit
  • Vehicle-specific mounting brackets and fitting hardware
  • 1 litre of BF307+ Super DOT 4 brake fluid

The road kit includes matching Bluestuff rear pads for the original rear calipers, SG swept-and-grooved solid rear discs and rear braided lines.

The Race competition front brake assembly combines Apollo competition calipers, fully floating two-piece discs to the selected specification and RP-X race pads.

Vehicle fitment

Match your vehicle, engine, year and any brake-package notes in the table. Disc measurements in this fitment table describe the original brakes; the new kit dimensions are listed under Technical specifications and in the SKU table.

Application years can vary by engine and kit option; check the detailed rows for your vehicle.

Vehicle Engine / model specification Years Fitting notes / original brake details
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Engine not specified 2008-2016 No additional application restriction listed
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (X) 2.0 Turbo Petrol 2008-2016 No additional application restriction listed

Fitting and looking after your brakes

Have the kit fitted by a qualified brake specialist. The installation needs clean, sound mounting surfaces, the correct hardware and torques, proper bleeding, and clearance checks through steering and suspension movement. Dust-shield removal or modification can be part of fitting; keep any vehicle-specific instructions in the application table with the job.

The road kit is designed around the original master cylinder and rear brakes. If you have changed the master cylinder or rear brake arrangement separately, have your installer check compatibility and brake balance before ordering.

Follow the fitting instructions and the bedding procedure for the supplied pad compound before demanding full performance. When rear components are supplied, fit them as part of the intended brake upgrade. Inspect pad and disc condition regularly, especially during circuit use, and keep the hydraulic system in good condition.

Frequently asked questions

What does the road kit add at the rear?

It includes matching Bluestuff pads for the original rear calipers, SG swept-and-grooved solid rear discs and braided rear lines. The new six-piston calipers and 355 x 32 mm floating discs go on the front.

How do I check wheel clearance?

Use the template for the exact kit version, printed at 100% scale, against the actual wheel. Wheel diameter alone does not establish spoke or caliper clearance. Send us your kit choice and wheel details if you need help arranging the check.

Why choose a floating disc?

The friction ring can expand independently of its mounting bell as it heats up. That reduces thermal stress during repeated braking and is one of the engineering differences behind a fully floating two-piece kit.

What changes when I choose Race competition?

You choose hard-anodised competition calipers, stainless-steel castellated pistons and RP-X race pads for dedicated circuit use. The painted road calipers use aluminium pistons and external dust boots. Use the exact SKU table to keep the chosen disc size and caliper configuration together.

What makes this different from changing pads and discs?

A big brake conversion includes new front calipers as well as the discs and pads. The reinforced Apollo calipers and fully floating two-piece discs change the front brake assembly itself, with the matching kit specification and fitting requirements shown above.
