FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are Manta exhausts made from?

Manta uses different stainless steels depending on exhaust size. The 2.5” and 3” systems use predominantly 409 stainless steel with some 441.

All 4” systems are manufactured from 304 stainless steel. Smaller systems benefit from 409 due to its superior heat-cycling durability.

Why does Manta use 409 stainless on smaller exhaust systems?

Smaller exhaust diameters run hotter. 409 stainless steel handles heat cycling better than 304, making it more durable for high-temperature operation typically seen in 2.5” and 3” systems.

Do Manta exhausts come with flow-rate data?

No formal flow-rate data is published. There is no universal industry standard for flow testing, meaning comparisons between brands are not consistent or meaningful.

What is the CPSI for manta exhausts?

Manta cats have a cells per square inch rating of 200 CPSI. Stock CPSI is usually around 500+

What type of catalytic converters do Manta exhausts use?

Manta cats are all 200 CPSI (cells per square inch) and use a high-flow metallic substrate rather than ceramic. They comfortably support vehicles producing more than 500hp. Stock CPSI is usually around 500+.

Are Manta exhausts suitable for turbo-diesel vehicles?

Yes. Manta’s turbo-diesel exhausts and catalytic converters are sized to eliminate choke points and ensure the system remains a genuine performance upgrade over stock.

Are Manta exhausts suitable for high-performance setups?

Yes. The high-flow metallic substrate in the catalytic converters supports well over 500hp, making Manta systems ideal for high-output applications.

Do Apex rapid precision valves work with my OEM TPMS sensors?

Yes, the valve includes mounts for the VS-950 and VS-650 type TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) which are used by Ford, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and most other American vehicles. Please check the APEX Designs page for completeness.

What makes Salt Shift products different from other cleaning solutions?

Salt Shift products are 100% Australian-designed and specifically formulated to remove salt, grime, and corrosion from marine and outdoor equipment. Unlike generic cleaners, our solutions are biodegradable, non-toxic, and safe for all surfaces..

Are your Salt Shift products safe to use on all surfaces?

Yes! Our formulas are non-corrosive and safe for gel coat, fiberglass, aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, rubber, and painted surfaces. They effectively remove salt deposits without causing damage.

Will Salt Shift strip wax or protective coatings?

No! Our formulas are pH-balanced and designed to clean effectively without stripping wax, ceramic coatings, or protective sealants.

Is it safe to use on my car?

Yes, the Salt Shift wash is formulated to be safe for all vehicle surfaces, including paint, metal, and plastics. It’s tough on contaminants but gentle on coatings and finishes.

Will Salt Shift wash prevent corrosion?

Yes, regular use helps prevent corrosion by removing salt and contaminants that can damage metal surfaces.

How much do I need to dilute Salt Shift before use?

Salt Shift formulas are twice as concentrated as standard cleaners, so they should be diluted at a 20:1 ratio (20 parts water to 1 part Salt Shift). For foaming guns, simply fill the bottle with the correct dilution, and the gun will mix it automatically. For spray bottles, pre-dilute the solution before applying. This ensures maximum cleaning power while remaining cost-effective for long-term use.

Does Rust Shield contain PFAs?

No. Rust Shield is completely free of PFAs.

What makes Rust Shield water-repellent?

Rust Shield is an oil-based protective formula that coats metal surfaces, helping block moisture and prevent corrosion.

Is Rust Shield lanolin-based?

No. Rust Shield is not lanolin-based.

How Often Should I Apply Rust Shield?

Application depends on driving habits. Rust Shield can last anywhere from 6 - 12 months depending on how often you use your car off-road. We suggest checking before each trip to ensure you're protected. How to check: Rust Shield leaves a hydrophobic barrier on your vehicles chassis. Once the hydrophobic properties start to fail It's time to reapply. Pro Tip: If your Chassis doesn't rinse clean with a quick wash. Your Rust Shield coating may need topping up. If you are a passionate off-roader or beach goer - you may need to reapply Rust Shield several times per year to ensure you stay protected.

Why does the offroad blaster only have one jet and not 4 like other models?

With only one jet the pressure now becomes 3 times more powerful as it is not being diluted between 4 jets, it also allows you to put in a height extension pipe and interchange the nozzles, making it a much more versatile and powerful tool to clean the underside of your vehicle.

Will the underbody blaster allow me to clean the underbody of my car?

Yes, the Underbody Blaster Pro is designed to help reach and clean hard-to-access areas under your vehicle.

Why should you consider upgrading the brakes on your 4x4?

The rapid world-wide growth in modifying civilian 4x4 vehicles has created a significant need for well-engineered brake upgrade solutions. Overland enthusiasts are fitting roof-top tents, bull bars, long range fuel tanks, water tanks, additional battery systems, storage systems, additional spare wheels etc. All of these accessories significantly increase vehicle weight, which severely affects brake performance and results in increased stopping distances. Larger wheel and tyre packages are also becoming increasingly popular. These generally weigh a lot more than the factory-fitted wheels and tyres. This additional rotational mass again severely affects brake performance, leading to increased stopping distances. Many 4x4 enthusiasts are also tuning their vehicles, adding significant horsepower. More speed = more energy, resulting in increased brake temperatures and ultimately brake fade.

What will a big brake kit do for you?

Powerbrake X-Line 4x4 big brake kits are engineered from the ground up to be the ultimate brake upgrades available on the world market for 4x4 vehicles. They deliver significantly improved brake performance, reduce brake fade and vastly improve pedal feel and modulation. The performance gains achieved when fitting our big brake kits vastly outweigh the benefits that can be achieved by fitting upgraded, standard diameter discs and pads. Our civilian X-Line 4x4 big brake kits feature direct technology transfer from our R-Line off-road race brake systems that have been used by works race teams to win multiple FIA Cross Country World Championships as well the infamous Dakar Rally (which is regarded by many to be the most gruelling motorsport event on earth).

Why choose Powerbrake?

Our World Championship winning R-Line off-road race brake systems have proven themselves over a period of more than a decade in race conditions ranging from the scorching deserts of South America, the Middle East and Africa to the snow-covered forests of Northern Russia, to the fast gravel tracks of Mongolia in the hands of the world’s best off-road race car drivers. Our civilian X-Line 4x4 big brake kits were designed by the same team that designed our renowned R-Line off-road race systems and they are manufactured on the same state of-the-art equipment, in the same factory. All design features found in our civilian X-Line 4x4 big brake kits were directly developed through our extensive involvement at the highest levels of international off-road racing. The exact same technology, features and materials found in our Dakar Rally winning R-Line off-road race brake systems can be found in our civilian X-Line 4x4 big brake kits. When we claim “direct technology transfer” from our race to our civilian brake systems, we mean it. Every single feature in our X-Line 4x4 calipers can also be found in our current production R-line off-road race calipers that we supply to leading Dakar Rally teams.

Are there different kit options?

There are two offerings in our X-Line 4x4 big brake kit range (Stage-1 and Stage-2). Both kits feature the exact same X-Line 6-piston off-road calipers, caliper mounting brackets, high-performance brake pads and stainless steel braided brake lines. The difference between our Stage-1 and Stage-2 kits lies in the discs. Our Stage-1 kits include 350x34mm 1-piece discs with 48 x directional cooling vanes. Our Stage-2 kits include 345-395x34mm 2-piece, floating disc assemblies with 72 x directional cooling vanes. Our Stage-1 kits offer a massive step up in brake performance and cooling over the factory brakes at a competitive price point. Our Stage-2 kits take the disc technology a step further and are the closest that a civilian 4x4 owner can get to our World Championship and Dakar Rally winning off-road race brake systems.
