When you have made your Touareg or Cayenne ready for rougher ground, the transmission deserves a guard that fits those changes. This 8 mm Almont duralumin plate is made for the listed petrol-engine vehicles with a body lift, covering the gearbox and transfer case with a substantial barrier underneath.

A body lift changes the mounting relationship, so this is a different choice from the standard-body transmission guard. The 8 mm HeavyDuty plate weighs 14 kg and mounts together with the matching front protection. It gives the gearbox and transfer case their own barrier when the centre of the vehicle passes over rocks and uneven crests.
The material is a large part of what makes Almont protection worth considering. Certified AW5083 H111 duralumin combines high strength with less material weight than steel of the same size and thickness. A scrape will not start red rust in the alloy plate, helping it stay a worthwhile long-term addition to your vehicle. Mud and road salt should still be washed off, including from the separate steel brackets and fixings.

For a body-lifted 7L Touareg or 9PA Cayenne, add the required matching body-lift front guard. For a standard-body Touareg 7L or 9PA V6 diesel, we also sell the separate standard-body transmission guard. That standard-body transmission guard requires the matching original-bumper front guard, sold separately. For a standard-body V8 petrol vehicle with the twin-catalyst layout, choose the PDWTB28 transmission guard instead.
Pressure wash the protection at least once a year, or two or three times a year if you regularly drive in mud or road salt. Check bolt tightness annually and follow the fitting instructions when refitting a plate after maintenance.

The duralumin plate will not form red rust when scratched. Wash off mud and road salt to help prevent other corrosion and to look after the separate steel brackets and fixings.
Almont provides three years of cover against cracking of the plate. Dents, deformation and damage to the vehicle are excluded.
