The Old Man Emu MT64 front strut gives your pickup a damper designed for everyday driving and demanding touring use. Its large oil capacity and aluminium body help manage heat on repeated bumps, while the preset damping lets you enjoy the vehicle without continually adjusting external settings.

The 64mm internal bore provides room for more oil and larger damping shim stacks. More oil helps manage the heat generated as the suspension repeatedly compresses and extends, while the aerospace-grade aluminium body helps transfer that heat away from the damper. Aluminium dissipates heat 15 times faster than steel, helping the body shed heat during sustained use.
A 22.5mm piston rod provides a substantial shaft for the assembly. Together, the larger bore and aluminium body help the damper manage repeated movement on rough roads, so your suspension can keep working consistently over longer stretches.
The front strut has six spring-seat positions in 5mm increments. Your installer sets the seat to suit the chosen coil and the weight of fitted front equipment, such as a bar or winch. The resulting ride height depends on the coil and the complete suspension setup.
Damping is preset. The spring-seat adjustment changes preload and installed height; it is not an external compression or rebound adjustment. Choose the complete spring/damper arrangement first, then set it up and check alignment.
This is MT64902002, the front strut for Ford Ranger Mk8 / Volkswagen Amarok Mk3 2023 onwards. It is the heavy-valved front option.
This heavy-valved version gives the suspension a stronger damping tune for the appropriate loaded setup. Choose it with the coil and fitted equipment in mind. The MT64902001 medium front strut is the alternative for the same Ranger/Amarok application.
One damper is supplied. Select the matching axle pair and any springs, bushes and installation hardware separately. A suspension installation should check clearance through travel, mounting torque and alignment where required.
Keep the damper clean enough to inspect the shaft and seals, and check it during routine servicing. Matching the springs and dampers to your vehicle gives you a suspension setup chosen for comfortable daily driving and control on rougher roads.

Yes. There are six positions, spaced 5mm apart. Your installer chooses the position for the selected coil and front load; the resulting vehicle ride height depends on the complete suspension setup.
MT64 damping is preset. The front spring seat can be positioned for the selected setup, but this is not a damping adjustment.
Use this heavy-valved version when your chosen springs and fitted front equipment call for heavier damping. If the setup calls for medium damping, choose the MT64902001 front strut for the same Ranger/Amarok application.
