On a first-generation Amarok the gearbox sits low between the rails, and a decade of green lanes, yards and towing means most of these trucks have already touched ground there more than once. This Almont gearbox skid plate for the Volkswagen Amarok 2.0 TDI, 2010-2022, is 9.5 kg of certified EN AW-5083 H111 duralumin in 8 mm HeavyDuty grade, cut so crest strikes and dragged debris scar the plate instead of the casing that keeps the truck moving.
Almont bolts the plate to the original chassis holes using steel brackets and pre-installed bolts, no drilling and no welding, with mounts designed to absorb impacts and vibration. Fitting takes ordinary hand tools, 17 mm and 13 mm spanners or sockets with 5 mm and 6 mm Allen keys. Most owners pair it with the first-generation Amarok front skid plate so the nose and the centre line are covered in one go.

Almont publishes a linked-fitting note on the parts that need one and there is none on this plate, but if you plan to run both, fitting front and gearbox cover in the same session is the tidy way to do it.
Pressure wash it once a year, or two to three times if you work salty or muddy ground, and check bolt tightness annually, as Almont recommends.
