Mid-wheelbase is where an FJ Cruiser grounds out: crest a rock step slightly off line and the sump line of the gearbox and transfer case is what touches down. This Almont plate covers that centre section in 6 mm of laser-cut EN AW-5083 H111 duralumin, so the strike is absorbed by 12 kg of alloy rather than the transmission castings. One version fits both manual and automatic trucks, and it bolts straight to the FJ's original chassis holes with the supplied steel brackets.

Almont recommends 8 mm for heavier vehicles and continental overland work across desert and rock. For a UK-based FJ doing green lanes and occasional trips, 6 mm keeps a kilo off and still takes the knocks.
