Mid-chassis is where a loaded 70 Series touches down: crest a rock step or drop into a washout and the transfer box is the lowest casing in the strike zone. On the 2024-on 76, 78 and 79, this Almont plate closes that zone off with 12.5 kg of laser-cut 8 mm EN AW-5083 H111 duralumin. The hit that would have cracked a casing and drained the driveline becomes a gouge in a plate that was bought to be gouged, and the truck carries on to wherever it was going.

Not on this platform. The 70 Series is squarely in the heavy-vehicle class where Almont recommends its 8 mm grade, and the transfer box is the single most exposed casing underneath it.
