The rear differential is the lowest hard point on a Hilux GR Sport's rear axle, and unlike the chassis rails it cannot slide over a rock - it stops on it. This Almont plate wraps that casing in 8 kg of laser-cut 8 mm EN AW-5083 H111 duralumin, so the boulder that finds the axle centreline dents alloy rather than cracking the diff housing or tearing its cover. It is the piece that lets a GR Sport use its suspension travel on rocky ground without flinching at every crest.

There are no usable bolt points on the diff casing itself, so Almont's design welds a bracket to the housing with TIG spots. It is a one-time job for a competent fabricator or 4x4 workshop.
It is unsprung weight, but spread across a live axle already carrying the diff it is a minor change - and far less consequential than the cracked housing it exists to prevent.
