Give your Sprinter protection before the road gets rough
Once your Sprinter leaves the main road, the front underside needs looking after as much as the tyres and suspension. This Almont plate adds a dedicated duralumin guard beneath the cooling system, engine, front differential and steering. Choose by year first, then select 6 mm SportDuty or 8 mm HeavyDuty to suit your use.
Choose your version
PDMBS2A6 and PDMBS2A8 cover the 2006-2016 W906 4x4 application in 6 mm and 8 mm. PDMBS2A26 and PDMBS2A28 are the corresponding 2017-2018 versions. The year-specific shape matters as well as the thickness.

Why we choose duralumin
The plate uses certified AW5083 H111 duralumin, a high-strength aluminium alloy that weighs less than steel of the same size and thickness. That makes sense on a van already carrying tools, a camper conversion or everything for a week away. You get a substantial guard underneath while keeping the extra weight down.
The duralumin plate won't rust when its surface gets scratched, and its natural oxide layer helps it resist corrosion. It's a useful long-term benefit on a van you use through wet winters as well as summer trips. An ordinary scrape doesn't leave the plate with exposed steel to start rusting.
6 mm or 8 mm
We'd choose 6 mm SportDuty for recreational off-roading and overlanding where keeping added weight down matters. For heavier vehicles and demanding long-distance trips, we'd recommend 8 mm HeavyDuty. The option table shows the weight of each version.
Off-road protection since 1992
Almont has specialised in underbody protection since 1992, with advice from preparers involved in the Dakar Rally and other rally-raid competition. That background adds substance to the premium: certified material, a design matched to your van and decades spent protecting vehicles underneath. We'd choose it to look after a van that carries so much of our work or our time away.
For a rear-wheel-drive W906
If your W906 is rear-wheel drive (2WD/RWD), choose our PDMBS2AR6 front plate. The plates on this page are for the W906 4x4.
Fitting and mounting
The plate bolts into your vehicle's original holes and threads using the supplied steel supports and fixings, with no need to drill new mounting holes. The certificate/instruction manual is included to guide the installation. Raised suspension is compatible when the original mounting points remain in place.
The plate needs the original chassis, frame, axle and suspension-stay anchors, transmission mounts and stabiliser-bar supports. Body lifts and diff-drop kits change that relationship and are incompatible.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the A6/A8 and A26/A28 options?
PDMBS2A6 and PDMBS2A8 are for 2006-2016; PDMBS2A26 and PDMBS2A28 are for 2017-2018. Within each pair, the choices are 6 mm and 8 mm.
Should I choose 6 mm or 8 mm?
For recreational off-roading and overlanding, we'd choose the lighter 6 mm SportDuty plate. We'd recommend 8 mm HeavyDuty for heavier vehicles and demanding long-distance trips. Both use the same certified alloy; the option table gives the weight for your exact version.
What comes with the skid plate?
Your skid plate comes with matching steel mounting supports, pre-installed fixings, a certificate and instruction manual, and an Almont sticker.
How do I look after it?
Give the plate a pressure wash once a year, or two or three times a year if you use it in muddy or salty conditions. Check the fixings for tightness annually as well. Follow the supplied instructions when refitting it after maintenance.
What does Almont's warranty cover?
Almont's three-year warranty covers cracking of the protection itself. Dents, deformation and damage to the vehicle are excluded.
