The ARB Essentials kit is a useful starting point when you want your main strap and winching accessories packed in one place. It gives you a snatch strap, tree-trunk protector, snatch block and two bow shackles, with a bag to keep them together between trips.

The 8,000kg-rated snatch strap is used for a suitable kinetic vehicle recovery. The 12,000kg tree protector provides a wider connection around a suitable winch anchor, while the 9,000kg snatch block is used in an appropriate winching arrangement. Two galvanised Type S bow shackles each have a 4.75t working-load limit.
These ratings describe individual components. A strap's breaking strength is not the same measure as a shackle's working-load limit, and the kit does not have a single capacity obtained by combining them.
The storage bag makes it easier to check the core components before leaving and find them when you need to recover the vehicle. Add the remaining equipment for your chosen recovery method: rated recovery points, suitable damping equipment and gloves all matter to a properly planned recovery.
If you want the winch extension, recovery damper and gloves supplied together, the ARB Premium Recovery Kit includes those additions. The Essentials kit can make sense when you already own them or are assembling the equipment separately.
Use only suitable rated recovery points and follow the instructions for the method you choose. Never attach a snatch strap to a tow ball, and keep bystanders away from the recovery area. Training and a considered recovery plan are as important as the equipment.
After use, inspect the straps, block and shackles. Clean and dry them as instructed, replace damaged components and store the bag somewhere accessible when the vehicle is loaded.
