Under the middle of a WJ Grand Cherokee sits the hardware that makes it a Jeep: gearbox and transfer case, hanging where rock crests and deep ruts do their scraping. This Almont plate is one of the most substantial in its Jeep range, 16.5 kg of 8mm EN AW-5083 H111 duralumin spanning the transmission area of the WJ and WG. When the middle of the truck grounds out, all that mass is what grinds, not the casings above it.

It is a large area of 8mm plate covering the gearbox and transfer case together. The mass is the point: a big, continuous surface for the chassis midline to slide on instead of the drivetrain.
Almont carries no linked-mounting requirement on this part. The two plates simply cover adjoining areas, and most owners fit them together for a continuous run of cover.
