SBI212 isolator; installation cables and fuse equipment separate
Run your accessories from a second battery and protect your starting reserve
The REDARC Smart Start SBI212 automatically connects a suitable auxiliary battery when the starting battery is charging, then separates the batteries as the voltage falls. It is a straightforward way to manage a compatible 12V dual-battery system without remembering to operate a manual switch.
SKU: XEISBI212
Automatic connection when charging is available
The isolator connects at 13.2V after a five-second delay and disconnects at 12.6V after a ten-second delay, with a ±0.1V voltage tolerance. This allows a compatible alternator system to charge the auxiliary battery while reducing the chance of accessory use drawing down the starting battery.
The LED provides an indication of the isolator's state. Its less-than-5mA standby draw keeps the isolator's own demand low when it is not active.
Choose for the electrical system
The SBI212 is rated at 200A continuous current, with a 600A maximum inrush rating. That is the isolator's capability, not a guarantee of the current your alternator will put into the battery. Cable size, fuse protection, alternator behaviour and battery requirements still determine the installation.
It is a voltage-sensing isolator, rather than a multi-stage DC-DC charger. Use it with compatible lead-acid battery arrangements and suitable alternator operation. For a regulated charge profile, lithium charging or a smart-alternator application that needs voltage boosting, the REDARC BCDC Core 25A is an alternative for protected in-cabin installation.
What is supplied
This listing is for the SBI212 isolator. Select installation cables, terminals and fuse protection separately to match the required circuit. The 200A model measures 90 x 95 x 100mm and weighs 600g, so leave space for terminals and safe cable routing as well as the isolator body.
Protect the cables from heat, sharp edges and moving components. A correctly planned installation is what makes automatic battery management useful and dependable.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a DC-DC charger?
No. It connects and separates compatible batteries according to voltage. A DC-DC charger also regulates the charging output and provides the selected charging profile.
Can it charge a lithium auxiliary battery?
Choose a suitable lithium-capable DC-DC charger instead, such as the BCDC Core for protected in-cabin installation, and match the charger to the battery's requirements.
Will it work with every smart alternator?
Not automatically. The alternator must hold the voltage needed for the isolator and battery arrangement. Use an appropriate DC-DC charger where the vehicle needs regulated auxiliary charging.
Are cables and fuses included?
No. Select cables, terminals and fuses separately for the SBI212 installation.
Does the LED switch off as soon as I stop the engine?
Not necessarily. The isolator responds to battery voltage, which can remain above its disconnect level after the engine stops. It disconnects when the stated voltage condition is reached.
