ARB REDARC 12V 40A Smart Start DC to DC Dual Input Battery Charger controls or connects part of the vehicle's auxiliary electrical system for charging and accessory power. A planned power-management component is safer and easier to service than adding unfused accessory wiring directly to the battery. The REDARC BCDC1240D under bonnet Battery Charger is a 12V 40A DC to DC battery charger, capable of high performance in engine bay installations, potted to survive and thrive against heat, water and dust.
Start with the maximum current, cable length and battery chemistry. Locate protection close to the supply, keep high-current cables away from heat and moving parts, and leave access to fuses and connectors. Charging components must also suit smart-alternator behaviour where relevant.
Confirm voltage, current rating, connector type and compatibility with the battery and charging system. Check whether cable, fuses, isolators, displays or mounting hardware are included. Use competent installation for high-current circuits.
