ARB RD165 Air Locker Differential Kit adds driver-controlled differential locking for traction when an open differential would allow one wheel to spin. Unlike a permanently locked differential, a selectable Air Locker can remain disengaged for normal driving and be activated when extra traction is required. Those who enjoy heading off the beaten track in their 4x4 know that even the most familiar tracks can present you with unexpected conditions.
An ARB Air Locker uses a compatible 12V compressed-air supply to engage the locking mechanism inside the differential. When selected, both wheels on that axle receive drive together. The useful decision is not simply front or rear: axle type, spline count, gear ratio and differential specification must all match the locker code.
Confirm the exact axle and differential specification, including position, spline count and ratio requirements. Plan a compatible ARB air compressor, switching and professional differential installation as separate parts of the build unless the package description expressly includes them.
