The 500N designation describes the strut force, not the weight the lid can carry. Choose the kit specified for the particular lid, vehicle and accessory arrangement rather than selecting a stronger strut simply because the number is larger.
A strut upgrade addresses opening and holding performance. The driving load limit still comes from the complete lid and rack system. Fit the prescribed struts, then check the opening movement, latch and clearances with the equipment actually fitted.
