The 8,000kg snatch strap is for an appropriate kinetic recovery between vehicles using rated recovery points. For winch work, the kit includes a 12,000kg tree-trunk protector, 4,500kg winch-extension strap and 9,000kg snatch block. They serve different purposes: the extension increases the reach of the winch line, while the tree protector provides a suitable wider connection around an appropriate anchor.
The supplied recovery damper and gloves are useful additions for handling recovery equipment. Two galvanised Type S bow shackles provide 4.75t-rated connectors where the recovery arrangement calls for them.
The large Winch Pack bag keeps the components together, with storage designed around recovery equipment. Pack the kit where you can reach it when the vehicle is bogged, rather than underneath the gear you may need to unload first.
After a recovery, inspect straps, hardware and the bag before repacking. Clean and dry the equipment as instructed, and replace damaged components rather than relying on a previous successful pull.
The individual ratings apply to their respective components. Strap breaking strengths and shackle working-load limits are different measures, and this collection of equipment does not have a single combined recovery rating. Match every component to the vehicle and the recovery method, use rated recovery points and keep people outside the danger area.
