Give your FJ Cruiser protection for the trails ahead
Your FJ Cruiser invites you to take the interesting route. These front plates add duralumin protection around the cooling system, differential, engine and steering, with a shape chosen for your bumper. The original-bumper options differ between the early and later front ends, and dedicated ASFIR, Smittybilt and WARN options are offered in both thicknesses.
Choose your version
For the original bumper, choose BU11 2006-2009 or BU09/BU04 2010-2016. There are separate ASFIR, SMITTY BILT and WARN bumper options. Each configuration comes in SportDuty 6 mm or HeavyDuty 8 mm. Both early original-bumper options use code PDTFJA; choose the full option label for the thickness you want.

Why we choose duralumin
Certified AW5083 H111 duralumin gives you a high-strength plate with less weight than steel of the same size and thickness. You get substantial protection for rough trails without carrying an unnecessarily heavy guard on every road mile getting there. It is a material choice worth paying for on a vehicle you want to keep enjoying.
The duralumin plate won't rust where rocks mark its surface. Its natural oxide layer also helps resist corrosion. You can enjoy using the vehicle on wet, muddy trails without treating every scrape as the start of a rust problem on the guard itself.
6 mm or 8 mm
We'd choose 6 mm SportDuty for recreational off-roading and overlanding where keeping added weight down matters. For heavier vehicles and demanding long-distance trips, we'd recommend 8 mm HeavyDuty. The option table shows the weight of each version.
Off-road protection since 1992
Almont has been making underbody protection since 1992, with input from vehicle preparers involved in the Dakar Rally and other rally-raid competition. You're buying from a specialist with that experience behind it, along with certified material and a plate shaped for your vehicle. That's a good reason to choose it for a vehicle you love using off road.
Fitting and mounting
The plate bolts into your vehicle's original holes and threads using the supplied steel supports and fixings, with no need to drill new mounting holes. The certificate/instruction manual is included to guide the installation. Raised suspension is compatible when the original mounting points remain in place.
The plate needs the original chassis, frame, axle and suspension-stay anchors, transmission mounts and stabiliser-bar supports. Body lifts and diff-drop kits change that relationship and are incompatible.

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose an original-bumper version?
Choose the 2006-2009 front-end option or the 2010-2016 BU09/BU04 option, then select 6 mm or 8 mm. Both the front-end choice and thickness are shown in the option table.
Should I choose 6 mm or 8 mm?
For recreational off-roading and overlanding, we'd choose the lighter 6 mm SportDuty plate. We'd recommend 8 mm HeavyDuty for heavier vehicles and demanding long-distance trips. Both use the same certified alloy; the option table gives the weight for your exact version.
What comes with the skid plate?
Your skid plate comes with matching steel mounting supports, pre-installed fixings, a certificate and instruction manual, and an Almont sticker.
How do I look after it?
Give the plate a pressure wash once a year, or two or three times a year if you use it in muddy or salty conditions. Check the fixings for tightness annually as well. Follow the supplied instructions when refitting it after maintenance.
What does Almont's warranty cover?
Almont's three-year warranty covers cracking of the protection itself. Dents, deformation and damage to the vehicle are excluded.
