Keep your camping battery charged on the journey

Enjoy your fridge, camp lights and devices with an auxiliary battery that gets properly charged during the journey. The REDARC BCDC1225D combines up to 25 A of DC-DC charging with an MPPT solar input, giving your 12 V auxiliary battery two useful ways to replenish power.

SKU: XEIBCDC1225D

Charge from the vehicle and make use of solar

The dual-input design accepts a suitable 12 V or 24 V vehicle supply and a separate solar input. Green Power Priority uses available solar first, with vehicle power contributing as needed when available. MPPT control helps make useful charging power from the panel as conditions change.

Choose the profile for your battery

Charging profiles support standard lead-acid, calcium, gel, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries. Match the profile and charging current to your battery's requirements, so you are choosing a charger for the battery rather than judging it only by the appliances connected to it. The charger uses boost, absorption and float stages to replenish and maintain the battery.

A practical choice for vehicle installations

The sealed charger is suitable for engine-bay installation as well as cabin, canopy or trailer arrangements, with appropriate fixing and ventilation. It works with standard and variable-voltage alternator systems when connected correctly. Install the required fuses and cable sizes for the exact supply distance and current.

Choose between 25 A, 40 A and 50 A

Choose this 25 A model when it matches your 12 V auxiliary battery's charging requirements and the time you spend driving gives it a useful opportunity to replenish the power you use. For a compatible battery that can accept more current, the 40 A BCDC1240D or 50 A BCDC1250D can put more charge back during shorter driving periods. Battery capacity, the amount of power used at camp and the available driving time make that comparison worthwhile. Each charger must stay within the battery's permitted charge current and have suitable cabling and input power. Actual output depends on battery condition, input power and temperature.

Frequently asked questions

Does this charge a 24 V auxiliary battery?

No. It charges a 12 V auxiliary battery. It can accept a suitable 12 V or 24 V vehicle supply, within the input limits.

Can I use it with LiFePO4?

Yes, with the correct lithium profile and a compatible LiFePO4 battery. Check the battery's allowed charging current and charging temperature conditions.

Can the solar panel and vehicle charge together?

Yes. Available solar is prioritised, with the vehicle supply contributing as needed when available. The separate MPPT input manages the solar charging.

Does it include the fuses?

No. The standalone charger does not include the required input and output fuses. Use the specified 40 A fuse arrangement and appropriate cables for this model.

Will it work with a smart alternator?

Yes. It supports variable-voltage alternator systems when wired according to the model instructions, including the correct ignition or trigger arrangement where required.

How do I choose between 25 A, 40 A and 50 A?

Start with the battery's permitted charging current. A 25 A limit points to the 25 A model; a 40 A limit allows the 25 A or 40 A models. If the battery and installation permit 50 A, the higher output can be useful for replacing more charge during shorter drives. Battery capacity and the power you use at camp affect how much charge needs replacing. None of these ratings changes the battery's stored energy capacity, and actual output depends on battery condition, input power and temperature.
