A fridge, lighting and other camp equipment are much easier to enjoy with a properly charged auxiliary battery. The REDARC BCDC Core 25 combines a 25A DC-DC charger, MPPT solar regulator and battery isolator in one compact unit, designed for installation inside the vehicle cabin or another suitably protected location.

The Core can draw from a 12V or 24V vehicle system and an unregulated 12V-nominal solar panel at the same time. Green Power Priority uses the available solar contribution first, reducing the amount it needs from the alternator.
It regulates the charging voltage for the selected auxiliary-battery type, including where a long cable run would otherwise cause voltage drop. The internal isolator protects the starter battery against excessive discharge through the auxiliary charging system.
The unit supplies up to 25A continuously to a compatible 12V battery. Charge profiles cover AGM/gel, lead-acid/calcium and suitable LiFePO4 batteries, including a separate profile for lithium batteries with a functioning heating system. Lithium batteries need their own appropriate battery-management system.
The right charger depends on the battery's allowed charging current, your daily power use and the driving or solar time available. A larger current rating only helps when the battery, wiring and source can use it.
At 165 x 120 x 37mm and 900g, the Core is easy to accommodate in a considered battery layout. Its case is for protected in-cabin installation, rather than exposure to water or an engine-bay environment. Allow cooling airflow and follow the installation clearances.
Vehicle-input and battery-output circuits require 40A fuses, supplied separately. The fly leads need suitable installation wiring, and smart-alternator applications require the ignition connection. Solar panels, auxiliary battery and installation hardware are separate parts of the system.
